Description
Shostakovich’s Two Pieces from Ballet Suite No.2 was composed in 1951. Much of the music is drawn for the most part from Shostakovich's ballet, The Limpid Stream from 1935, a work which had been condemned by Pravda in 1936. Recycled and re-named, however, the music, incredibly, became acceptable to the Party.
This edition has been transcribed for Cello and Piano by Lev Atovmyan. Two light, interesting and entertaining pieces.
