Designed for beginning to intermediate musicians at a high school level, the Jazz Wizard Junior series follows in the footsteps of the original Jazz Wizard method by providing a break-through approach for younger players whowant to learn to improvise within the jazz style.
Jazz Fiddle Wizard Junior provides a sequential introduction to the fundamentals of playing Violin in the jazz style, including the role of rhythm, calland response, articulation, scales, chord changes and improvisation. The exercises take the form of catchy tunes arranged to work in any configuration of string groups. Three-part arrangements are included for each tune and thesemay be played with any number of compatible instruments or used in conjunction with the other volumes in the series.
The books in the Jazz Wizard series are suitable for self-instruction or for use in private lessons or aspart of a string group. Jazz Fiddle Wizard Junior includes Piano accompaniment parts as well as access to online audio that provides a full rhythm section accompaniment for every exercise and tune. The correcttone and style are demonstrated in the author's performances of more than 50 sample exercises and improvised solos.
