This is a great album of music solely by Calatayud, the Mallorcan composer. It begins with the Four Easy Pieces, which are a simple but charming and melodic introduction to the collection. The relatively straightforward pieces are still interesting and characteristically Spanish in nature. As a Classical Guitar Teacher I use this album regularly as it features pieces which span the intermediate level.

An excellent book; a real mix of elementary and harder music which will last me a long time. I shall order the 2nd and 3rd volumes in due course.

Bit disappointed to discover that all the pieces in this compilation are by the same guy - the Majorcan guitarist and composer Bartolome Calatayud (should have read the small print more carefully before purchase!) Having said that, there is a varied range of styles and levels to work through. A contemporary of Segovia, most of the pieces are traditional Spanish dances and will feel familiar to any student of Spanish guitar music. Quite good fun to just pick stuff at random but dint know if I would bother to learn anything to performance standard.

A good book with a variety of styles and standards. Suitable for the young beginner and for those more advanced.

This book is an excellent selection. I'm 17 and have been playing different styles of guitar for about 3 years. Right now I'm practising one of the beautiful pieces from the book called "Fandanguillo" for my spanish II class. The few pieces that I've looked at in this book are fairly simple, but look and sound complex. I say pick up a copy and learn "Fandanguillo"--you won't regret it.
