It gives you allot of exercises covering the different areas for building up speed. The author also goes into great detail about creativity, tone, style, and allot of little things that people are missing in there lead playing. I recommend to everyone, beginner or professional. This book is obviously aimed towards metal and rock style lead guitarist, but it will certainly give you a boost, no matter what style you play. This book is a necessity for any serious guitarist. This book will not disappoint.

Don't do what I did and listen through the CD first, as you may flinch in terror!
Joking aside, this book/CD can appear quite daunting at first to the intermediate player like me.
It's a bit of a cliché, but you really do need to take it slowly - one step at a time. This book won't turn you into a speed Demon in 3 days if you're not already. There are no 'tricks' to playing fast - it just takes time and practise.
What it does give you is solid advice/ideas and challenging exercises to really improve your speed and technique.
The presentation is a bit 'stale' and mechanical, but it always is with these type of books.
I wouldn't recommend this book for beginners, but for intermediate and above it represents decent value for money. I expect to still be refering to this book a year or more down the line.
I wish these books would give you a proper CD case though, instead of a plastic pocket stuck to the back page!

This is a book aimed at the aspiring shredder and will basically give you the neccessary skills for fast alternate picking, legato and sweep picking. This book will also help you to develop speed, rythmn and timing and hone your own creativity. One of the best books I have ever used. Some of it ain't easy but if you can master the more difficult parts of this book, you'll able to play anything! Anonyme
