Quinze grands standards arrangés pour le piano dans le style de jazz par Steve Hill. Nouvellement gravé, avec des symboles d'accord. Inclut le rythme fascinant, mouche venue avec moi, diable tellement Nice et ce vieux appelé Love.
Very nice arrangements. Ideal for a classical pianist who wants some authentic-sounding cocktail-lounge jazz to add to their repertoire, but who isn't proficient at improvising from a fake book. It's also a very good way to teach yourself about jazz piano styles.
However, it falls short in some areas: each arrangement is quite short, only about three pages on average. Some written-out "improvisations" would have been very useful, as would indications of where the verses and choruses start, for those who want to repeat sections to extend the song.
Also, there are quite a few errors in the score (I've found at least one or two per song). There are some cases where one cannot be sure if a "wrong" note is intentional or not, but others are clear mistakes: writing an E-natural when the chord symbol says E-flat; inconsistencies between sections which are otherwise repeated note-for-note; a bassline which for no musical reason disappears for two bars... Keep your ears open (and a pencil handy) when practising. Anonyme
