This 1960s edition has extensive appendices including the best reconstruction of the prologue that I have seen. This makes it an essential purchase for anyone wishing to perform the opera with the prologue, but unfortunately the rest of the edition is outdated in its editorial methods, making it unsuitable to use for an authentic period performance, or for serious academic study of the work.

This edition is the one used for the justly famous Janet Baker / Anthony Lewis performance presently available on Decca Legends. I used this same edition (after considerable research among performing editions) some 20+ years ago when conducting Dido for a college production. It is imaginatively realized, scrupulously edited and contains some performing choices and variants. The reconstructed prologue is also included. Although interesting, it borrows exclusively from other Purcell scores. Buy this for the opera proper; it is an excellent edition.

Very good but not the clearest for my ageing vision. A slightly larger page size would be better for me. Otherwise fine.
