Shadings: Orchestre Symphonique

Shadings was commissioned for The American Composers Orchestra, UnSafe series and premiered at Zankel-Carnegie Hall. In Laura Schwendinger's Shadings, richly scored shimmering music ebbed and swirled in tandem with a series of enigmatic photographs projected above the orchestra. The photographs were taken in Japan by the composer's cousin Leni Schwendinger, who also designed evocative lighting to complement the images. - Review by Vivian Schweitzer in The New York Times
