Description
This work is an arrangement for violin and piano of an excerpt from the third act of the opera Konrad Wallenrod. That stage work, with its patriotic message, based on Adam Mickiewicz’s epic poem, is among Żeleński’s greatest compositional achievements. The third act portrays a colourful feast, during which – besides a ballet – we find a number of ballads and songs. They include a Wooing Scene, written in a rather unusual 8/8 metre, which will enhance the repertoire of every violinist.
