Description
The symphonic poem Krzesany was written in 1974. Its first performance at the Warsaw Autumn Festival was a real event, bringing on a wave of discussion and arousing numerous emotions. ''An apology of highlander culture, which pales the famous ballet by Karol Szymanowski - 'Harnasie''' - wrote Andrzej Ch opecki, ''A colourful exclamation mark upon the background of Warsaws autumn greyness: it has all it takes to become a hit,'' wrote, in turn, Olgierd Pisarenko. It is a single-movement piece, with simple textures and distinct motifs, entailing folk elements. The initial motif is particularly important, build upon three characteristic chords which appear in various forms throughout the entire work.
