First Flute

Jeffery Wilson's First Flute is a seven lesson teaching and learning resource aimed at beginning flautists.

The pieces in this book utilise the earliest notes learnt upon the instrument and include improvisations, solos, duets, variable ensembles, listening exercises and 'vocal' concepts. Some of the pieces feature words for the purpose of giving a sense of relevance in terms of breathing, rhythm and line.

Although First Flute follows a handy lesson plan format, this can easily be rejected in favour of a ‘pick and mix’ approach although the author has tried to offer some bite-sized exercises over thecourse of seven lessons.
